Overcoming Touch Apprehension Therapy
What is Overcoming Touch Apprehension Therapy?
Overcoming Touch Apprehension Therapy is where a client has the time and opportunity to explore touch in a safe and understanding setting with a professional cuddle therapist. These sessions have been designed to run at whatever pace the client feels most comfortable with – it is perfectly okay if you don’t want any touching to take place at all. A session such as this is the perfect environment to understand where and how you like to be touched and learn how you would like to touch others.
Although I am highly knowledgeable in the subject of touch violation, abuse and trauma, and have been trained in facilitating touch acceptance, Cuddle Therapy is not a licensed medical practice and should not replace the consultation of a health professional, either physical or psychological.
£70 per hour
£35 per 30 minutes
Minimum session length is 1 hour.
Please note: most clients say they feel the maximum benefit when a session is a minimum length of one and a half hours.
I can sometimes extend a session if a client asks but this option is not always possible so please state how long you would like at time of booking.
What can I expect from an Overcoming Touch Apprehension therapy session?
You can expect to be completely in control at all times during an Overcoming Touch Apprehension therapy session, going at whatever pace feels most comfortable to you. You will be coached and guided by a professional touch practitioner at all times. In these sessions it is often incredibly useful to practise the boundaries of consent and identify what could be a potential trigger to you. These sessions usually start off slowly and then you and your cuddle therapist can transition to being near each other, to sitting next to each other, to holding hands and so forth. These sessions will hopefully in time help you to start becoming more confident in giving and receiving touch from people outside of the therapy sessions.
